School Football Team Vs Woodland View Match Report

Friday 5th October

On Friday 5th October it was the school football teams turn to take to the field and begin their season. Expectations were high for the team and they were full of confidence heading in to the fixture. The team welcomed Woodland View to the ground for the first home game of the season.

The game began well for West Park with lots of pressure on the ball and some very good passages of play. The first goal came from a set piece, with a corner whipped in and flicked on at the near post to be finished by the team captain Ellis. This first gaol settles the nerve of the team and the pressure continued with another goal following shortly after from Bailey, a year 3 player representing the football team for the first time. Unfortunately the next goal went to the visitors to make the score 2-1. The team responded perfectly to this and 2 goals followed in quick succession before another goal from Woodland View to leave the score at 4-2 at half time.

The team began the second half well and continued to press to find the next goal, it didn’t come until towards of the game but it the mean time West Parks GK, Kayden, pulled out 2 excellent saves. With the game into the last 5 minutes West Park scored 2 more goals to see out the game with a 6-2 victory. Goal scorers: Ellis (2), Klayton (2), Bailey, Riley

This was the first time the school football team has won a game and all the coaching staff were incredibly proud of their effort, attitude and team play throughout the game. The team will play another 3 times next week and we are hoping they take the positives from this game into those
