PE and Sport Summary

This half term has been incredibly busy for our staff and pupils. The key information regarding our sports provision is below. This demonstrates the massive strides we have taken as a school over the past few months to ensure our pupils are given the opportunity to play and enjoy sport.

We are super proud of all the children and their embracement of sport

School Sports Autumn Term 1 – key information

     7 weeks

     17 teams

(Football x2, tag rugby, squash, tennis x2, handball x2, cross country x7, indoor rowing x2)

     19 competitive events (level 2)

     54 pupils representing school (over 1/3 of Key Stage 2 pupils)

     10 extra-curricular clubs

     83 pupils have attended at least 1 extra-curricular club (55% of key stage 2 pupils)

     10 intra school events (level 1)


     School football team – played 5 won 4 lost 1 (scored 20 conceded 12)

     Girls football team – played 3 won 3 (scored 16 conceded 0)


     1 Gold medal (Y4/5 handball)

     1 silver medal (Tennis B Team)

     2 bronze medals (Handball and Cross Country)


     Our 1st ever pupil selected to represent Ashfield

     Our 1st ever Sports Crew selected

     5 outside providers in to work with the pupils and staff (Sutton-In-Ashfield Harriers, Karate Zone, NFFC, Advanced Squash Coaching, Mini Tennis)

     3 pupils have started clubs outside of school (athletics and karate)


Looking ahead to next half term:

     Dance enrichment for Year 3 with Premier Sport

     Mansfield Hockey for Year 6

     Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club for Year 1

     Gymnastics coach for Year 2 and Year 4

     Girls football tournament with NFFC in Nottingham

     Game Of Remembrance visit at Notts County FC

     Y3/4 Sportshall Athletics event

     Year 5 football team
